I grew up with golf in my blood. It wasn’t just a sport — it was my compass. I came up during the days of Annika Sörenstam, and I’ll never forget hitting balls just a few spots away from her on the range at the 2003 U.S. Women’s Open. Sharing the range with the best in the world showed me exactly what was possible.
And then — life happened. An injury pulled me away from the game I loved and steered me into a career outside of golf. I thought that chapter might be closed, but golf has a way of calling you back when you’re ready to hear it. My comeback wasn’t just about swinging a club again; it was about finding a better way forward. With the help of GolfForever, I rebuilt my body, restored my swing, and reignited my passion for the game.
It became clear that my older body wasn’t going to produce the same results it did in my 20s. I finally had to admit there was truth in the old saying: “Drive for Show — Putt for Dough.” Somewhere along the line, I had my first SAM putter fitting — and it was like a light bulb going off. I realized most golfers are trying to make their stroke fit the putter they bought off the rack, instead of having a putter fit to them. It’s backwards. You should never have to contort your game to match your equipment — especially with the most-used club in the bag.
Putting, to me, is the foundation of the game. It’s the slab you build your whole “golf house” on. Get that right, and everything else — chipping, pitching, full swings — gets better. Earl Woods believed in starting at the hole and working outward. It worked pretty well for his son, who you may have heard of, and I’ve carried that into my own coaching. As a lifelong student of the game, I’m a Vision54 advocate for the mental game, TPI certified for analyzing each player’s body-swing connection, GolfForever junkie for the body’s longevity, Pelz short game disciple, and SAM PuttLab certified for the science of putting. But above all, I believe golf should be fun. It’s a game, after all.
If everyone played golf with its original values — integrity, perseverance, sportsmanship, and respect — and then lived life the same way, the world would be better for it. I want everyone to know the feeling of a perfectly struck golf ball that sings up the shaft and into your heart, as Ben Hogan once said. If you’ve done it once, you can do it every swing. And if you’ve never struck a golf ball perfectly, I can help you join the club.
This might all sound a bit fairytale-like and simplistic — and that’s by design. I challenge myself to find even the smallest glimmer of good in every situation. The more we focus on the good, the better things get. Golf doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s actually pretty easy, if we let it be. It should be rhythmic, joyful, and childlike. As the famous saying goes, we don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing. Tick Tock Mother Putter is my way of making sure we never stop.
